What to study
NieR: Automata frames all of its menus as the android's own operating system, and this is the moment that framing stops being a style and becomes the story. During the logic-virus corruption sequence the HUD does not merely report damage, the interface itself is what is failing. A small floating panel headed SYSTEM INFO quantifies the failure as a percentage, 98.60%, over the flat status line 'System Corrupted', a near-full progress bar and a row of segment blocks ticking out underneath. Below it the OS speaks again, in a wider banner headed ERROR: 'The command was not executed correctly.', which is literally true, because in this sequence the player's inputs misfire as 2B stumbles across the rope bridge. Even the picture obeys the readout: the frame is desaturated and split by red/cyan chromatic aberration, so the corruption is visible in the world and legible in the interface at the same time. Nothing else of the game's normally sparse HUD survives in frame, no health bar, no minimap, just the machine calmly documenting its own breakdown in the same typography it uses for its menus. Frame at about 0:40 in the Nier Attract Trailer Unrated EN video (Steam), manually extracted at 39.5s: the pipeline's scene-change bundle contains no frame from the trailer's first minute (its earliest survivor is at 59.0s), so this segment was found by the 1-frame/2s filmstrip audit and probed at 0.5s steps.

- the SYSTEM INFO panel floating over the bridge at centre-left: header 'SYSTEM INFO' with '98.60%' at its right end, the status line 'System Corrupted' beneath it, a long thin progress bar filled almost to the end, and a row of small segmented blocks below it, the first segments lit and the last dark
- below it, a second, wider translucent banner headed 'ERROR' carrying a single sentence in the game's system voice: 'The command was not executed correctly.'
- the corruption is rendered on the image itself, not just reported by it: the whole frame is desaturated to near-greyscale and split by red/cyan chromatic aberration along the rocks, ropes and bridge timbers
- 2B seen from behind at centre, small in frame, mid-stride across the rope bridge with an unsteady, stumbling gait, the failed command the ERROR banner reports is the player's own input
- no other interface anywhere in the frame: no health bar, no level readout, no minimap, no Pod or weapon readout, the two system panels are the entire HUD

Source details
Fetched 2026-10-21. verified 2026-10-21: frame manually extracted at 39.5s from the pipeline-downloaded Nier Attract Trailer Unrated EN (Steam) and inspected visually at full resolution (1920x1080 native); genuine in-game system panels confirmed settled and legible (the SYSTEM INFO header, the 98.60% figure, the 'System Corrupted' line, the progress bar and segment row, and the ERROR banner's full sentence 'The command was not executed correctly.' all readable; probes bracket the segment: 37.5s is the near-black fade-in with the panel barely present, 38.5s shows the SYSTEM INFO panel alone at the same 98.60%, 40.5s shows both panels again at 98.72%, and 41.5s is black, the segment runs about 38-41s and 39.5s is its fullest settled state); the desaturation and chromatic aberration are the game's own corruption effect in the source, not a capture or transport defect; no trailer typography overlays the frame
